Social media users are circulating unverified claims about the Bondi Beach attack alleging it was accompanied by a coordinated disinformation campaign aimed at Pakistan.
According to these claims within minutes of the incident several well known Indian journalists publicly identified the suspect Navid Akram as Pakistani before any official confirmation by Australian authorities. Soon after a purported copy of his driver’s license appeared on social media and was broadcast by Indian outlets featuring an image allegedly showing him wearing a Pakistan cricket team shirt.
Those advancing this narrative further claim that the attackers were in fact of Indian origin and that early blame on Pakistan was deliberate. They also allege that sections of Israeli media quickly echoed accusations against Pakistan without presenting verified evidence.
Supporters of these claims argue the alleged objectives were to revive the Pahalgam false flag narrative discredit Pakistan internationally justify crackdowns on Muslims in India reinforce long standing allegations against Pakistan and undermine improving U.S Pakistan relations.
