Microsoft’s widely used productivity suite Microsoft 365 experienced a major service disruption affecting thousands of users on Thursday according to outage tracker Down detector which showed nearly 15,880 user reports of issues earlier in the day and around 3,960 reports by early evening as people across multiple countries struggled to access apps like Outlook Teams OneDrive and others; Microsoft acknowledged the problem on its status page on X (formerly Twitter) saying engineers have identified that a portion of its service infrastructure in North America was not processing traffic as expected and are rebalancing traffic across alternate systems while remediation efforts continue and although the exact number of affected users may differ from Down detector’s figures because those are user‑submitted the disruption highlighted how deeply businesses and individuals rely on Microsoft’s cloud services and the impact that infrastructure failures can have on daily workflows.
