Pakistan’s security forces have killed 41 Indian backed terrorists in two intelligence‑based operations carried out in Balochistan the military’s media wing the Inter‑Services Public Relations (ISPR) said Friday.
The operations were conducted on January 29 in Harnai and Panjgur districts after credible intelligence about the presence of militants belonging to groups the state labels as Fitna al‑Khawarij and Fitna al‑Hindustan.
In the first operation on the outskirts of Harnai security forces engaged a terrorist hideout in an intense exchange of fire killing 30 militants and recovering a large cache of weapons ammunition and explosives which was later destroyed on site.
In a separate raid in Panjgur troops busted another hideout and neutralised 11 terrorists. Alongside weapons and ammunition looted cash from a December bank robbery in Panjgur was also recovered from the militants according to the ISPR.
The military statement said the slain terrorists had been involved in numerous past acts of violence and that sanitisation operations are underway to eliminate any remaining India‑backed elements in the region.
The ISPR reaffirmed the government’s commitment to its counter‑terrorism vision “Azm‑e‑Istehkam” saying operations will continue at full pace to eradicate foreign‑sponsored terrorism from the country.
Balochistan and neighbouring Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have seen a rise in cross‑border militant activity in recent years particularly following the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan challenging security forces in Pakistan’s west.
