In a major counter‑terrorism offensive in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pakistan’s security forces have successfully neutralized 13 India‑backed terrorists in a series of five intelligence‑based operations the Inter‑Services Public Relations said underscoring Islamabad’s resolve to crush foreign‑sponsored militancy.
The high‑tempo operations conducted overnight on March 6 and 7 targeted terror hideouts in Bajaur District Bannu Dera Ismail Khan Khyber and South Waziristan where fierce exchanges of fire saw multiple terrorists killed and arms and ammunition recovered.
In Bajaur security troops engaged militants at their location and after intense combat neutralized five terrorists while separate encounters in Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan resulted in three more terrorists being killed. Counter‑terror missions in Khyber and South Waziristan saw another five militants eliminated.
According to the military’s media wing many of the slain militants were actively involved in terror activities including attacks on security forces and civilians and were allegedly backed by foreign elements aiming to destabilize the region.
Weapons and ammunition seized during the raids are now being examined as part of sanitization efforts to root out any remaining terrorist presence. The ISPR said that the operations form part of a relentless counter‑terror campaign under the vision of “Azm‑e‑Istehkam” aimed at eliminating the menace of terrorism and safeguarding national security.
Security forces stressed that this offensive demonstrates their continued commitment to defending the country’s frontiers and protecting citizens from militancy. Further sanitization sweeps are ongoing as authorities work to ensure that all terrorist elements are flushed out and brought to justice.
This marks yet another significant success in Pakistan’s broader fight against terrorism as the military vows to maintain pressure on militant networks operating in the region.
