President Masoud Pezeshkian has hailed the appointment of Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei as the new Supreme Leader as the beginning of a “new era of honour and authority” for the Islamic Republic calling it a reflection of the will of the Iranian people and a step toward strengthening national unity.
Pezeshkian said the decision by the 88 member Assembly of Experts to elevate Mojtaba Khamenei the son of the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei comes at a pivotal time as Iran faces significant external pressures and internal challenges. He described the unity of the nation as an “impregnable fortress” that will help the country resist adversarial plots and continue its revolutionary path.
The president underscored that the legacy of the late Supreme Leader had laid a strong foundation for the future and voiced confidence that under Mojtaba Khamenei’s leadership Iran could pursue sustainable independence scientific and technological advancement and comprehensive development despite ongoing geopolitical and economic pressures.
