Ukraine says North Korea has deployed a dedicated ballistic missile unit to western Russia, describing the move as a significant escalation in military support for Moscow.
According to Ukraine's military intelligence, the deployment includes around 90 personnel, six missile launchers, and up to 120 ballistic missiles, which Kyiv believes could be used in future strikes against Ukrainian territory.
Ukrainian officials warn that the additional missile capability could intensify Russia's long-range attacks on cities and critical infrastructure as the war continues.
The reported deployment comes at a time when Ukraine says it continues facing shortages of advanced air defense systems needed to intercept ballistic missiles and protect civilian areas.
Kyiv has repeatedly called on international partners to accelerate deliveries of additional interceptor missiles and air defense equipment to strengthen the country's defensive capabilities.
