An army captain has been martyred and seven terrorists eliminated during an intelligence-based operation in Hangu district, according to Pakistan’s military media wing, ISPR.
The operation was launched on August 7 after security forces received intelligence about the presence of militants in the area. During the raid, troops engaged the terrorists, resulting in the deaths of seven militants.
According to ISPR, Captain Hamza, who was leading the operation from the front, fought bravely and was martyred during the intense exchange of fire.
Security forces recovered weapons, ammunition and explosives from the militants following the operation. Authorities say the terrorists were involved in multiple attacks and posed a serious security threat in the region.
The military says a clearance operation is continuing in the surrounding area to eliminate any remaining militants and prevent other terrorist elements from exploiting the terrain.
The latest operation comes as Pakistan continues intensified counterterrorism efforts, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where security forces have carried out a series of intelligence-based operations against militant networks.
The military has pledged that sacrifices made by its personnel will not go in vain, saying security forces remain determined to eliminate terrorism from the country.
The latest deaths bring renewed attention to the continuing security challenge in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where troops and police regularly face attacks from armed militant groups.
